Central Greece is the district that dominates the centre of Greece, called Sterea Ellada for the Greeks, and includes the prefectures of Attica (with Athens as its capital) Aitoloakarnania, Viotia, Evia island, Evrytania, Fthiotida and Fokida. It is the most heavily populated district in Greece, as it includes Athens City. However, in most other areas, population is more evenly spread to many small towns and a large number of villages.
