Short Description
The setting of Armakas Cottage amongst an outcropping of huge boulders enhances its position in the hillsides above Skopelos harbour.
INTERIOR
The cozy atmosphere of Armakas Cottage is evident even before you walk in the door. The carefully landscaped front entrance has a rustic look with a traditional stone-built water fountain as was used to bring water into the house in the days of old. Inside, at the entry hall you find a large w/c shower room with lots of light and decorated in soft blues. Down a few steps, the hall opens out to a spacious, open-plan kitchen and sitting room. The high, open wood beamed ceilings and slate floors add to the warm ambiance and the décor is a country, island style. Long bench seating runs fully along one wall which doubles as extra sleeping space. The galley style kitchen is simple, but well equipped. The dining table sits near the fireplace and two sets of double French doors lead out to separate terraces. The back terrace behind the kitchen is a sun trap and perfect for sitting out for breakfast on cooler or windier days. The other door leads to the front terrace where sweeping views of valley and sea sprawl out below. From the sitting room, a few more stairs lead further down to the roomy master bedroom suite. The open wood beamed ceilings and slate floors are carried through in keeping with the traditional feeling of the cottage. This comfortable room is decorated in a rustic style and is furnished with double bed, writing desk, love seat and comfy rocking chair. With stunning views of the harbour, we imagine plenty of time could be spent relaxing or curled up with a good book during the heat of the mid-day sun. The two double French doors lead directly out to the front terrace where the views are fully appreciated. From this lofty position above the town and harbour, one can watch the daily happenings in the port, yet feel far removed from the hassles of every day life. A stairway leads down to the en-suite master w/c shower room. The annex of Armakas Cottage is situated above the main house and reached via a winding stairway near the front door. Although small and quaint, the annex has an atmosphere all of its own. Furnished with a double bed, dining table and a wood burning stove, the room has the look of an old ‘kalivi’ or country house. This is the type of cottage that was used in the olden days by the family during olive picking season. A corner kitchenette is equipped with mini-oven and two cooking rings for making breakfasts and simple meals. The annex is equipped for a maximum of 2 persons and has its own w/c shower room and wardrobe with storage space. The private, covered terrace will be the favourite spot of those who stay here because of the breathtaking views afforded from heightened position.

EXTERIOR
The large terraces, bench seating and old style fountains which decorate the patios show a love for the views, land and surrounding countryside that it is situated on. Plenty of low walls create varied levels throughout the property and around the house using stones and materials from the land itself. The house is surrounded by flowers in bloom, spilling from their pots and is discretely set amongst huge boulders within the olive grove.

SURROUNDINGS
Armakas Cottage is situated just a few kilometers from town and enjoys spectacular views of both nature and sea. An easy drive takes you to the bustling town of Skopelos with its picturesque harbour front lined with cafes and tavernas.
A few kilometers in the opposite direction takes you to the sunny south side of the island where an abundant selection of pristine beaches awaits your exploration. Nearby the cottage, goat and donkey trails criss-cross the area where lots of leisurely walks can be enjoyed in the surrounding unspoiled country side.
