The idea of the owner, Mrs Kalliopi Chatzigianni to create ABELOS VILLA is based on the need to improve standardized tourist services. ABELOS VILLA was, therefore, constructed on an estate that lies in the village Roustika, a traditional, historical village, one of the most beautiful in Crete, where buildings from the Venetian era are still preserved. ABELOS is located at an altitude of 300 metres above sea level, in the middle of the prefecture of Rethymnon. The advantage of this location is that there is easy access both to the north of the island and to the towns of Rethymnon (at a distance of 20km), Heraklion and Chania , and to the southern part of the island (Libyan Sea) with the superb, wind-protected beaches of Plakias, Moni Preveli, Damnoni, Ammoudi etc. at a distance of 15 km from the area.

The arrangement of the building enables the unified use of both apartments. Each apartment has its own courtyard, as well as terraces with unobstucted view over perennial trees and the breathtaking, distant view over the mountain chain of “Lefka Ori” and the Cretan Sea. In ABELOS, an outdoor swimming pool (5m x 10m), as well as BBQ facilities are at your disposal. The house cleaning, as well as the air-conditioning are included in the price. Moreover, breakfast can be served upon request. In addition, a cook is available. There is an extra charge for the above mentioned services.

First apartment (cottage): 65 m²
Two traditional bedrooms (wooden sleeping lofts) with two double beds.
Two bathrooms, one with a bathtub and one with a shower.
Spacious sitting room with fireplace (arches, wooden ceiling)

Fully furnished kitchen for use by the guests: washing machine, dishwasher, electric cooker and fridge.
The rooms are fully air-conditioned.
There are satellite -TV, CD-player, hairdryer and telephone facilities.
The apartment is appropriate for families or a company of 4 persons.

Second apartment (main house): 100 m²
Two bedrooms one with a double bed and the other with two twins on the first floor.
A double-bed bedroom on the ground floor.
Three bathrooms with shower.
Sitting room with fireplace.
Dining room, kitchen equipped for breakfast and snacks.
The rooms are fully air-conditioned. - Facilities as for the above mentioned apartment.
The apartment is appropriate for families or a company of six persons.
There is a baby bed at your disposal.

A few words for the traditional village of Roustika, where ABELOS is located.
The name Roustika comes from the Latin word RUSTIKUS. In the village, there is the famous monastery dedicated to the "Profitis Ilias", built in 1200, as well as the Church of Panagia, dedicated to the Holly Mother, which was built in 1100 and where one can admire some very rare frescoes. The church has been classified as a historical, sacred monument. There is also the museum of traditional costumes, where costumes from all over Greece are exhibited. Although Roustika is a pole of attraction for tourists, it maintains its traditional character. Roustika is ideal for mountain - biking and mountaineering through superb gorges of abundant vegetation: European track E4. There are some excellent short routes (15-30 min. by car) such as the ancient town of Lappa, Argiroupolis, the lake Kournas, Moundros, all of which are of unique natural beauty. After a tiring but pleasant day, your meal at the traditional Cretan taverns and cafes are really compensating. During the summer, many traditional festivals take place in the nearby regions. Guests have the opportunity to experience traditional Cretan music and dancing.
