Vilas Raches (above skopelos town), Skopelos
Short Description
Villa Kastania is surrounded on all sides by olive groves and is situated on a small dirt track that leads only to a few other houses which assures privacy and tranquillity. The drive from town is approximately 10 minutes up the steep winding road that leads behind the town.
INTERIOR
Upon entering Villa Kastania, one feels its spaciousness and comfort on a grand scale. The entire house is furnished with IKEA style furniture that affords a modern, yet easy style. The expansive living room with high ceilings, lots of windows plus French doors leading to the terrace, faces directly out to the stunning views of mountains, harbour and the sea beyond.

The living room is divided into areas by bookshelves and sofas, which provide spaces for sleeping, or just lounging and listening to the high quality music centre. On the back wall is a double built-in bed and, on the side wall, a single built-in bed, both fitted with futon style mattresses. The living room has a sofa, which converts to another double futon-style bed for extra sleeping space.

From the living room you pass through to a roomy, modern kitchen with ample seating around a breakfast table or, alternatively, the French doors make it easy to entertain and serve up a fabulous Greek meal in the outdoor dining area.

Incorporated into the kitchen area you will find a convenient W/C shower room and washing machine. A winding stairway leads up from the kitchen to a light and spacious master bedroom, including en-suite W/C with bath, full length mirror, a sofa/sitting area, double bed and French doors leading to a vast terrace. The views from the terrace are breathtaking, looking to the olive covered hillsides and deep blue sea below. From here hours can be spent watching the ferries come and go from the busy harbour below, whilst being far removed from the hustle and bustle. Very private and sunny most of the day, a perfect place to sunbathe and enjoy the pristine nature that surrounds you.

The separate 'guest' house is entered through a compact, but fully-equipped kitchen at the back of the house which leads to a comfortable living room furnished with the same IKEA style furniture. As in the villa, the design is such that windows and French doors provide panoramic views from each of the main rooms. There is a living room and a W/C shower room on the main floor and a spiral staircase leading up from the living room reaches the bedroom. This room is furnished with two single beds, a full-length mirror, plenty of wardrobe space and windows looking out to the sea.

EXTERIOR
The fairy tale-like design of Villa Kastania can be seen from far below as it sits halfway up a steep sloping hillside behind Skopelos town. This position is what offers its splendid and sweeping views, as it seems to be perched in the air as the land disappears beneath the terraces that nearly surround the house.

From its kidney-shaped pool you can admire the hills with the sea dropping dramatically below. There is a barbeque area with a solid stone dining table making meals outdoors a must. The plentiful outdoor areas for entertaining, sunning and relaxing in the Greek summer sun will assure that you spend little time away from this idyllic setting.

SURROUNDINGS
Villa Kastania is surrounded on all sides by olive groves and is situated on a small dirt track that leads only to a few other houses which assures privacy and tranquillity. The drive from town is approximately 10 minutes up the steep winding road that leads behind the town.

Along the way you pass the bay and beach of Agios Konstantinos which is only a 5 minute drive from the villa, perfect for a quick swim or lunch in one of the quaint taverns overlooking the sea. Also, the villa offers ideal walking for those inclined; either just a morning stroll in the countryside or a hike to the bay of Glysteri. The walk is approximately 1 1/2 hours from the villa and has a protected beach for swimming and a beachfront taverna serving traditional Skopelos fare. In July and August there is a water taxi several times per day to Skopelos harbour.

SUITABILITY
Villa Kastania is great for one to three couples needing a peaceful break in their hectic lives. It is also perfect for a large family get-away or reunion.
